Average to top footballers are earning from £30,000 to £180,000 per week. Some of them are big fans of jewellery and all of them are big fans of fast and expensive cars. There is no doubt in saying that you see more African players wearing all types of jewellery from gold to silver jewellery than South American and European football players. Having saying that footballers from South America are not far behind African footballers.
There was a time when jewellery was allowed to wear in the pitch and I have seen few Cameroon and Senegalese footballers wear jewellery while playing. These days you can’t wear jewellery in any contact sport and it has been banned in football too so Ronaldo can’t show off his new silver earrings while playing a competitive match unfortunately. This is a good ban to be honest, as if can be highly dangerous because Football has gone very physical these days.
It’s not only footballers who enjoy wearing jewellery, there are other athletes who love using it such as Olympic athletes love wearing gold and silver necklaces around their neck. If you see these athletes in action you will see them wearing jewellery and run. Do you remember US athletic superstar Michael Johnson wearing a huge gold necklace around his neck everytime we ran. I am sure if he took that heavy metal out he would have been even faster than his set time for the World record.

So how can athletes be able to wear jewellery and run if footballers are not allowed to wear them in the field while playing? I believe they should ban wearing jewellery while the sport is in play. I can understand footballers and these athletes love to show off what they have but they can do that in their life outside their job not within the field.
